As you enter the ranch, you will see two doors, one on your right which heads into the ranch's stables (here you will find Ingo), and another on the left, which heads into a room below Talon & Malon's house. As you enter this room, you will find Talon asleep, leaning against some sort of wall, and a shitload of cuccos. Before you do anything, see that sort of semi-enclosed area at the foot of the stairs (behind and to the right of Talon)? Grab all the cuccos and chuck them all in there, that will make this next part a hell of alot easier. They will all sort of be trapped in there and won't be able to get out.
Talk to Talon, he will wake (startled) and thank you for waking him up. Then, he will ask what you are up to, and you answer nothing (having the whole of Hyrule's destiny in your hands doesn't exactly leave you all that busy, does it! ). He asks if you would like to play a game. He says he is going to throw these "Super Cuccos" into that there gaggle of normal cuccos (which are now trapped). If you can find all the cuccos within the time limit, he will give you something good.
Agree to play and then all you have to do is grab the three cuccos, as you grab each one he will announce that it is one of the special cuccos, and you will be able to just continue and grab the next one.
After you have grabbed them all, he asks if you would like to marry Malon, which, unfortunately, whichever way you answer doesn't ever happen. He will then reward you with a bottle filled with Lon Lon Milk. It recharges 5 hearts of energy in a single dose, and there are two doses in each bottle.
After you have done all that (if you play the game again he will offer
you a job at the ranch when you grow up, which again doesn't ever happen) walk
through further into the ranch and you will come to the corral, with alot
of horses galloping around, and in the center of the corral you will
find Malon. Talk to her and she will introduce you to her friend (Epona, the Horse)
as Fairy Boy (quite annoying ... I _do_ have a name you know!). Anyway,
Epona runs off and you will have to speak to Malon again, in which case she tells
you that Epona is afraid of you. Talk to her again, and she will tell
you that the song she has been humming was composed by her mother. At
this point whip out your ocarina and she will ask you if you are going
to play it on the ocarina (it's a rhetorical question, you never get to answer it)
After this, you will have learned Epona's Song. You are now finished in
the Ranch, for now.
